Application Process

1. Pre-application
- Pre-applications are used to determine a student’s eligibility for a particular fellowship. For most of the scholarships that require a pre-application, the Office of External Scholarships and a Faculty Advisory Committee will screen pre-applications early in the Spring Semester. For scholarships that have an earlier deadline, this process may take place in the Fall Semester. See details about a specific scholarship if you have questions.
- To complete a pre-application form, click on the appropriate pre-application form on the Overview of Scholarships page. You should submit pre-applications via email. In order to use our pre-application forms, you will need the latest version of Adobe Reader.
2. Nomination
- The OES Faculty Advisory Committee will nominate the University of Tennessee candidates for the Fall 2008 competitions by the end of the Spring 2008 semester. For scholarships with a Spring 2009 deadline, those nominations will be made in the Fall 2008 semester. For more information about the individual scholarship deadlines, see the OES Academic Calendar.
3. Completing the applications
- During the summer, the Office of External Scholarships will work with the nominees to complete applications for Fall scholarship deadlines. For the Spring scholarship deadlines, we will work with nominees to complete their applications in the fall. For more information about the individual scholarship deadlines, see the OES Academic Calendar.
4. Mock interviews
- The Faculty Advisory Committee will conduct interviews for pre-applicants and mock interviews for finalists during early Fall or early Spring semesters.
