About
Annual scholarship program that allows up to 45 young Americans to study in the U.K., first implemented by the British Government in 1953 to honor the Marshall Plan.
Award
Full tuition and fees to any accredited university in the U.K., living allowance, travel expenses to/from the U.K., support of a dependent spouse, annual book grant, annual thesis grant, research & daily travel grant.
Time
Typically 2 years (in rare cases 3).
Number
Up to 45 students each year from the U.S.
Who’s Eligible
Any U.S. citizen who has earned Bachelor’s degree by the start of scholarship tenure, with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.7, who has formulated a feasible program of study to complete within the two year time frame.
Selection Process
Scholars are selected based on intellect and character with preference given to those who show a potential for significant societal contribution. Also important is the research proposal: candidates should seek to make their proposal both specific and realistic.
Pre-Application Process
OES Pre-application due late March. Applicants will undergo a campus screening process prior to submitting the official application in October. Click here for pre-application form. NOTE: you will need the latest version of Adobe Reader to use this form.
Application Process
Application due early October. Application includes institutional endorsement, a personal statement, a project proposal, and 4 letters of recommendation.
