Current Events Forum

The Office of External Scholarships sponsors events and speakers, which are open to the entire UT campus community.

This fall, we will be hosting T.R. Reid: correspondent for NPR, former Rocky Mountain Bureau Chief for The Washington Post, author of The United States of Europe and the forthcoming We're Numner 37! which focuses on health care in the U.S. as compared to other industrialized countries.

As part of Reid's visit, we will also be showing "Sick Around the World," the PBS Frontline documentary featuring and co-written by Reid, and leading discussion groups on both the film and Reid's last book, The United States of Europe.

For specific times and locations of all events, please visit our Calendar page.

Current Events Table

The Office of External Scholarships sponsors a Current Events Table each semester for students who are currently applying or interested in applying for scholarships with the help of our office. The table is led by a faculty moderator and allows the students to engage in academic discourse on a variety of current issues: political, cultural, and social. Students may contact us if they are interested in joining the table, and we invite faculty recommendations as well.

The fall group will meet weekly in the UC beginning August 27, alternating Wednesdays and Tuesdays from 12:30-1:30.
